Testimonals (on all Charisma cartridges)

5 out of 5 Stars - HiFi World

"... has clarity and insight few MCs can match... the Reference One is an excellent MC cartridge, especially at the price. I loved listening to it and you may too."
- Noel Keywood, HiFi World

"Two thousand dollars is a lot to spend on a phono cartridge, for most people (myself among them). The Charisma Reference One earns its’ pay grade, in my opinion. Highly recommended."
- Noam Bronstein, Wall Of Sound (read the review)

"The Reference One is a delicious desert for a working man's life that serves up speed, transparency and tonal color in smooth proportion that keeps you wanting to hear more and more music – pick your favorite genre. I'm buying the review sample,"
- Rick Becker, (read the review)

"As a proud supporter of Canadian audio, I had to purchase the review sample of the Reference One, but wherever you hail from, if your taste mirrors mine, you will be just as proud to add it to your analog arsenal."
- Richard Mak,

"Charisma Audio’s line of cartridges are winners. Highly recommended."
- Noam Bronstein, Wall of Sound Feb., 2015 (read the review)

"The Charisma MC-1 Moving Coil Phono Cartridge is capable of great subtlety and delicacy too. It offers that winning combination of relaxed assertiveness only top-notch vinyl seems to deliver. The sound is immediate, without seeming aggressively forceful or unpleasantly forward. At the same time, there’s an abundance of fine detail that ‘tells’ in a very beguiling manner... Your vinyl collection will sound totally transformed and magnificent."
- Jimmy Hughes, HiFi+ (read the review)

"The Charisma MC-1 Moving Coil Phono Cartridge was an excellent moving coil cartridge and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. At first blush, a $1095 cartridge is not what I'd call a bargain but since it offered performance awfully close to one twice as expensive, perhaps it is. Well done Charisma.
- Paul Candy, Positive Feedback (read the review)

"In conclusion, I loved this cartridge. I loved its clarity, its accuracy, its wonderfully clean bass – its musicality. I loved that I completely forgot about it, and just listened to music, and watched the pile of LPs to listen to get larger and larger... I’ve got a strong feeling my search for my new standard cartridge is over."
- Mark Morris, Wall of Sound (read the review)

"The $1495 Charisma Audio MC-2 moving coil cartridge sounds far better than it has any right to! In fact, this recently introduced cartridge–and cartridge line—is undoubtedly one of today's best bangs for the buck in the once again growing world of high-end audio cartridges."
- Miles Astor, Positive Feedback, July, 2015 (read the review)

Charisma Reference One MC Phono Cartridge
The Reference One is housed in an Amboyna burl wood body. Bernard Li, the designer points out that the strongest wood does not always produce the best sound and he’s chosen this body material for it's specific density and bending strength (modulus of rupture), aided by his panel of trusted audiophiles.

Cantilever material is given the same scrutiny, choosing ruby as it is hard enough to maintain rigidity and light enough to have a quick transient response. In this case, minimizing the diameter to a mere .29mm. The specially formulated rubber suspension will not harden with age or humidity changes, assuring long life. Lastly, the cross-wound coils use single crystal ultra high purity copper, and have an output of .4mv, making them compatible with MC phono stages having 60dB or more of gain.
