I have a lot of room treatments, for use with my Magnepan 3.6 dipole speakers, and SVS Ultra Plus2 subwoofer. Corner bass traps in all 4 corners, floor to ceiling otherwise the room rings like a bell. Diffusors in front of bass traps on the front wall, plus more diffusors up there. No diffusion in back just absorption panels, this idea was inspired by Siefreid Linkwitz's thoughts on room acoustic's.

RE: AudioFlea Introduction thread - Say hello and Introduce yourself!
Hi my name is Troy, long time audiophile from way back in the 80's at Avaino Air Force Base, Security Police Specialist. I like reading and checking out the latest gear, though I don't upgrade until I have a real need to. Not into the tweaky side of the hobby, but I do enjoy reading about or trying various room acoustics project's.
Speakers are my favorite thing to read about or listen to at an audio dealer. I think the next generation of speakers are going to be like JBL's M2, or Paradigm's Persona active with DSP built in. Currently running Magnepan 3.6's upfront with 10.1s doing surround duty and a SVS Ultra Plus2 for a subwoofer.
I work at the South Bend Airport, IN. Screening passengers and luggage, for TSA. Want to get back into photography so I just bought a pricey Sony bridge camera. I also have interests in martial arts, UFC, movie soundtracks, Pink Floyd, and classic rock, and a bit little of most other kinds music, minus rap.
RE: Axpona 2017, Who's Going??
I am going for all 3 days, staying at Westin and have the Gold Pass. Anyone who wants to meet up send me a message. Also I am driving in from South Bend, IN. I did a lot of hanging out with Amir from Audio Science Review forum last year.
Plus some friends from the Audio Circle, and Audio Raver from HTS and Mark Henninger from AVS.
Carolyn I remember the speakers and the room, you had from last year2016. It was long and narrow, and I remember those wave guides on the speakers. Plus it was on the first floor and think you had some acoustic treatment in the room.
RE: Quads vs Maggies- Which dipole offers the best balance of strength vs compromise?
I personal experience with this. My Monsoon hybrid planers, caused my duplex neighbor to pound on our shared wall if the volume was over light background level. This was due to conventional sealed subwoofer it had, when I switched to an all planer desktop system ala Magnepan Mini's.
Have not heard a peep from him since, bass frequencies are the ones that go through walls and especially with the increased impact from conventional woofers. When I lived in a apartment my neighbor below said when the volume went up for movies they could hear the subwoofer. But not my Magnepan IIIA's (now upgraded to 3.6's) planer bass lacks impact, but is more accurate sounding to me.
I also did some mass loading of shared wall by moving a large bookcase against the wall, with some neoprene computer wrist pads pressed between them. It helped to get more volume but not as much as changing speakers.
Also my sound is so much better no with a ribbon tweeter on my desktop and planer woofer panel underneath, instead of the boomy conventional bass of my old system.
